Event Description
Chemical management has become a focus of increasing sustainability demands from fashion brands and retailers to their suppliers. Transparency and traceability of chemical products used by suppliers are in high demand, creating unique challenges and opportunities for all parties involved. The goal of this event is to shine light on the supplier perspective. Industry experts from international brands, solution providers, chemical suppliers and of course factories will gather to discuss current challenges and simple solutions for suppliers to meet the rising demands of their brand customers. Innovative tools will be presented to digitize and simplify chemical management for both factories and brands.

Speaker | Dr. Siva Pariti is a globally-recognized leader in textile chemistry. Since more than 16 years, he has been advising leading global brands, auditors, MSIs, wet processing facilities, and students in the areas of chemical and environmental management. He was a Member of Advisory Board for ZDHC Academy and is certified ZDHC Trainer, Chemical Specialist Verifier and Trainer FEM 3.0.

Speaker | Lars Doemer has more than 20 years’ international experience in the fashion and textile industry, working with different brands, retailers and organizations in Hong Kong and Europe. He was involved in several cleaner production programs and took the lead for ZDHC roadmap implementation. As a co-founder of GoBlu, he developed The BHive, one of the leading digital chemical management platforms in the industry.

Speaker | Kazy Mohammad Iqbal Hossain is a competent sustainability professionals with more than 18 years industry experience. He has been working as South Asia Regional Sustainability Manager for Lindex since 2016. In his current role, Mr. Hossain is responsible for driving Lindex sustainability agenda throughout its supply chain located at Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Srilanka. He is also one of the key contributors within the company for developing strategy, roadmap and policy on boarder sustainability. Mr. Hossain is a Water Resources Engineer by profession and has deep expertise on chemical management, industrial wastewater treatment, energy and climate change.

For TÜV Rheinland Group, he is leading the Business Stream Products for India, Middle East & Africa ( IMEA) Region. He is also experienced in hazardous substance process management, Restriction of Hazardous Substance (RoHS), Chemical Management Audit, Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemical Substance (REACH) Regulation & Implementation.

He has been rewarded from some major sustainability promoters for new sustainability project implementations in industry sectors and qualified with ISO 14064-1 &2, ISO 14001, ISO 9001 , SA8000 and the six sigma Green Belt.

Mr. Syful Islam Khan is Country Manager & Local Business Field Manager for Product-Softlines at TÜV Rheinland Bangladesh. He has more than 17 years experience related to textile/ footwear product safety, quality, compliance and sustainability services in the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) Industry with several Multinational Companies.

Panelist | Mr. Dewan Nurul Islam is Chemical & Environment Manager for BESTSELLER Bangladesh & Pakistan- He graduated in Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science and holds an MBA in International Business. In 14+ years of working experience in Chemical and Environment Management, he has held management positions in different reputed organizations.

Panelist | Mr Sumon graduated in Textile Engineering with a major in textile wet processing and hold a MA degree in Business Administration. He has over 23 years of technical expertise in the textile industry including dyehouse production, sales and marketing of textile dyes and chemicals. He worked for BASF in technical service and product development as well as in Sales and Marketing. In 2010, he joined DyStar and is currently holding the position as Country Manager for the Bangladesh Business.

He is a pioneer in chemical management for manufacturing industries in Bangladesh, and a crucial contributor to the GIZ Toolkit on resource-efficient management of chemicals in textile and leather sector. Omar Faruq has been responsible for implementing several sustainable chemical and environmental management projects in textile sector for Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. He is a chemical engineer and holds Master in Environmental Science and Management.

Speaker | Md. Abu Naser Shatez shares his insights from a background in Environment & Chemical Engineering. He is passionate about Chemical management and educating audiences on topics that are commonly talked about in RMG industry. He has completed his BSc. in Chemical Engineering at Jashore University of Science & Technology and published 4 international journals as a researcher in Nano-bio and Advance Material Engineering Lab. He has also completed ZDHC Chemical Management Training, CQI|IRCA certified ISO 14001: 2018 (EMS) Lead auditor course & SAC approved Higg Index (FEM) Training.
